Resume : L'histoire commence lors d'un tournoi de Monster Rancher (ou Monster Farm de son titre original). Genki, un jeune garçon de 11 ans passionné de jeux vidéo, remporte le tournoi, et va recevoir comme prix la toute nouvelle version du jeu, le "Monster 200X". En rentrant un jour de l'école, Genki découvre le jeu dans sa boîte aux lettres. Fou de joie, il commence à jouer immédiatement. Alors qu'il est sur le point de libérer un monstre, il est subitement aspiré à l'intérieur du jeu et se retrouve dans un monde virtuel peuplé de monstres. Il tombe très vite sur une jeune fille nommée Holly et son monstre, Suezo, qui ressemble à une grosse balle dotée d'un oeil. Ceux-ci tentent d'échapper à un groupe d'affreux dinosaures lancés à leur poursuite. Complètement déboussolé, Genki s'enfuit avec eux.
