Resume : 26 juillet 1950, guerre de Corée. La 1e division de cavalerie américaine se replie en piteux état après avoir perdu la ville de Yongdong, à environ 160 km au sud-est de Séoul. Près du hameau de No Gun Ri, un bataillon prend position près d'un pont ferroviaire avec pour mission de tenir l'emplacement pendant trois jours au moins. Des centaines de civils sud-coréens trouvent un abri sous les arches du pont, qui surplombe une petite rivière, avant d'essayer de poursuivre leur fuite éperdue. Les soldats américains ouvrent le feu à la mitrailleuse pendant trois jours sur les réfugiés, tuant près de 400 d'entre eux...
